I've been glueing little mosaic tiles to make the bathroom floor. Turqoise and white make a lovely couple! --- Olen liimannut pieniä mosaiikinpaloja kylpyhuoneen lattiaksi. Turkoosi ja valkoinen ovat ihana pari!

Thermos --- Termos

This is an idea I found on somebody's blog a while ago. The thermos is made from the top part of a pen, painted and decorated with a flower from a paper napkin. The mugs I only painted with a pale yellow. Now all I need is some picnic food! --- Tämän idean löysin jonkun blogista jokin aika sitten. Termospullo on tehty kuulakärkikynän yläosasta, maalattu ja koristeltu servetistä leikatulla kukalla. Kupit olen vain maalannut haalean keltaisiksi. Nyt puuttuu enää piknik-eväät!

paint and a few windows --- maalia ja pari ikkunaa

I have finally gotten around to doing some work on the dollshouse itself. Originally all the surfaces were some sort of wood imitation. As the house is quite deep, some of the back corners tend to be a bit dark. So I decided to paint all walls, floors and ceilings with a white primer. --- Vihdoinkin olen käynyt nukkekotini kimppuun. Kaikki nukkekodin pinnat olivat alunperin puujäljitelmää. Koska nukkekoti on aika syvä, varsinkin takanurkat jäivät hieman pimeiksi. Joten päätin maalata seinät, lattiat ja katot valkoisella pohjamaalilla.



For the living room I added a pair of glass doors that will lead to balcony, in the future. For now it will be just a French balcony, I think. I also decided to add more windows as there were none on the sides of the house. Smallish windows on the ground floor that will give light to the bathroom and the children's room. --- Olohuoneeseen lisäsin pariovet, jotka johtavat kenties parvekkeelle, joskus tulevaisuudessa. Alkuun tästä tulee vain ranskalainen parveke, luulen. Päätin myös lisätä taloon ikkunoita, sillä niitä ei talon sivuseinissä alunperin ollut. Pienehköt ruutuikkunat pohjakerroksessa antavat valoa kylpyhuoneeseen ja lastenhuoneeseen.



There's also a new window in the kitchen. This one can be opened to let in the breeze... --- Keittiön uuden ikkunan voi avata tuulettamista varten...



I've added wallpapering to the bedroom in the attic. --- Olen tapetoinut ullakolla sijaitsevan makuuhuoneen seinän.

beach memories - rantamuistoja

An old glass jar filled with sea shells acts as a lamp base. The pale blue sign has pointed the way to the beach house. -- Simpukoilla täytetty vanha lasipurkki toimii lampunjalkana. Haaleansininen kyltti on johdattanut rantatalolle.



A tiny glass jar is filled with real shells (from Florida!), the shade has been folded from plain white paper and shaped with the help of thread. -- Pikkuruinen lasipurkki on täytetty oikeilla simpukoilla (Floridasta!), varjostin on taiteltu tavallisesta valkoisesta paperista ja kiristetty muotoonsa ompelulangan avulla.



The sign is made from balsa wood. -- Kyltti on tehty balsasta.

a little easter - pieni pääsiäinen

Haven't had much time for ministuff lately, but I did manage to make some easter decorations. The green grass is made from an old brush's bristles, planted in a plastic bottle cap. Narcissus is blooming too!

Minijutuille ei ole ollut paljoa aikaa viime aikoina, mutta joitain pääsiäiskoristeita sain tehtyä. Vihreä ruoho on tehty vanhan harjan harjaksista ja istutettu muovipullon korkkiin. Narsissikin kukkii!

I've been making miniversions of things in my own home. This wooden box is used for measuring 2 litres of potatoes.

Olen tehnyt miniversioita kotonani olevista tavaroista. Tämä 2 litran perunakappa on yksi niistä.

Grey stone mosaic will be the floor in the foyer. I'll need to figure out what to use as grouting. The summery tote on the bench is waiting for warmer weather and happy shopping trips. I embellished it with decoupage. In the background is a mirror that imitates those made from an old window pane.

Eteisen lattia tulee harmaasta kivimosaiikista. Täytyy vielä keksiä, miten toteutan saumauksen. Kesäinen kassi odottaa lämpimämpiä kelejä ja iloisia ostosretkiä eteisen penkillä. Kassi on koristeltu decoupage-tekniikalla. Taka-alalla on peili, joka matkii vanhaan ikkunanpokaan tehtyjä peilejä.



I chose a checkered pattern for the kitchen floor, in white and light grey. After the elaborate paint work was done I realized I probably should have painted the squares diagonally. But I'm not doing it over, not just yet. Notice the little aqua dish cloth by the sink? My homage to Martha Stewart (I have one in my 1:1 kitchen as well).

Keittiöön valitsin ruudullisen lattian, valkoista ja vaaleanharmaata. Työlään maalauksen jälkeen tajusin, että ruudut olisi varmaan kannattanut maalata vinoon. Mutta en ryhdy uusintamaalauksen, en ainakaan vielä. Huomaatko pienen turkoosin tiskirätin altaan reunalla? Se on kunnianosoitus Martha Stewartilla, 1:1-keittiöstäni löytyy samanlainen.
